Self_Protection,a wonderfully imaginative painting, is by artist Maia Stefana Oprea.
The verse below, I composed, to illustrate its affect on me.
Seeking asylum,
From a cold world,
We hide our true selves,
Protecting ourselves.
Layering one shell,
Upon another shell,
Sheltering ourselves,
One after another.
Until our true selves,
Become indiscernible,
From the shells,
Providing shelter.See more of her work as *no-existence87 on Deviant Art.
Antinous by Alan Seeger Stretched on a sunny bank he lay at rest,
Ferns at his elbow, lilies round his knees,
With sweet flesh patterned where the cool turf pressed,
Flowerlike crept o'er with emerald aphides.
Single he couched there, to his circling flocks
Piping at times some happy shepherd's tune,
Nude, with the warm wind in his golden locks,
And arched with the blue Asian afternoon.
Past him, gorse-purpled, to the distant coast
Rolled the clear foothills. There his white-walled town,
There, a blue band, the placid Euxine lay.
Beyond, on fields of azure light embossed
He watched from noon till dewy eve came down
The summer clouds pile up and fade away.More about Antinous here .
I was recently honored with a Daily Deviation
for my ceramic relief sculpture, Seated Youth, that I had posted in my gallery at Deviant Art .
I am most grateful to the thousand plus members who viewed my
Daily Deviation and to the hundreds that messaged me, added it
to their collections, and visited my gallery.
When I first visited =MackTheDeuce at Deviant Art, I discovered a beautiful poem that he had written. That discovery, Becoming Magnolia, is posted today in hopes that springtime won't be too far away.
Becoming Magnolia
A thin rain has fallen
And the poised Magnolia
Drops her pearl-fuchsia petals
In a stream of swelling bounty
To the anticipating peat below her.
The petals taste the drops
Of dew upon the greening grass
Until they have tasted their own rarities.
They sing back to the Magnolia
Like a choir of pillow-stuffed clouds
With the silky, humid air wrapped
Around a tale and a tune.
Some of us are "cat people" and some are "dog people", to this I can attest.
But we all love the kitties,
All fresh and fluffy too,
With so many adventures that lie ahead of MEW.These lovely kitten photos are from a wonderful site called Daily Pets.
